Fathers’ Day – Reflection

The world celebrates father’s day on the third Sunday of June.

A father is a teacher of life. His expression of love may seem inadequate or ‘over the top’ sometimes but he always strives to be the face of reality and the wings of hope for his family. However, fathers struggle for work-life integration in this age.

Reflective thoughts on empowering fathers towards work-life integration may include:

  • Conscious measures: Fathers can reflect on their work schedules and allocate time for their family. A true measure will make fathers realize about their current lifestyle.
  • Rejuvenation: Fathers should spend time on activities which energize them.
  • Focussed approach: Fathers should strive to set boundaries around work hours and focus on quality instead of quantity.
  • The ‘How’ question: During these VUCA times, we all try to fit as much as possible into our routines. It does matter how you ‘get the job done.’ Fathers can reap dividends by making small changes to their routine.
  • Delegation: Delegating work can help fathers focus on work-life integration while challenging work can increase job satisfaction parameters for their colleagues.
  • Explore: Take ‘leaps instead of small steps.’ Explore the possibilities for major life changes that will lead to fulfilment and engagement.

This year, let us spread love, hope and joy to fathers worldwide and encourage them to ‘live life to the fullest.’
